PPU .308 150 gr SP ammo - any good?

One of my work rifles is a Remington 700 .308 that gets used for goat control and the odd pig and fallow, out to 200 yd.
I buy ammo by the case and always used Federal blue box 150 gr, then Winchester Super X 150 gr when the Federal went up in price.
Now Fed Win and Rem are all well over $400 per case of 200 I need to find a cheaper factory round.

How well does the PPU .308 150 gr softpoint shoot? Would you say the projectiles are softer/harder? Any problems with reliability?

Not interested in mail order deals like Belmont or Freedom Munitions.

I've used a bit on wallabies in a Parker Hale tx1200, it is tight to chamber but would put 5 in less than an inch at 100m. The resized and trimmed brass chambers fine though

in.223 its crap...highland is the same stuff...velocity is waaay down on other brands....well point of impact is and killing power is so ASSUME velocity is.
tried Barnaul????? nice big soft exposed lead tip might be just the ticket.

    Thanks for your feedback guys.
MD yes I used a few boxes of Barnaul 168 gr SP, very dirty burning, and accuracy was just OK but killed well.

Iv used heaps of it in 308 before I migrated to 243
shoots and kills well on big animals with shoulder and neck shots
I still have a ton of it i believe it is the same as "Highland" which is what I have
simple no nonsense cup and core soft point

low BC by all accounts but everything i shot with it was clobbered and the bullets mushroomed nicely

I personally think its a harder projectile than federal blue box that my cousin used which would come apart on impact
the PPU/highland would mushroom but hold together and do less meat damage/bloodshotting that Iv seen with the federal blue box

I used to use Highland 150gr, (same ammo different name) when I started hunting. velocity is down on other brands but it worked fine on the reds.

Have you looked at the Belmont Ammunition website as they sell .308 ammo at some good prices.

They gave Belmont Black .308 with 150 gr Sierra SP which you can buy 250 rounds for $280 but I note on their website their out of stock... a phone call to them would confirm that is the case or when their making some more

I bought some for the cases for reloading.
In my Bergara 16.5" 1:8 twist they averaged 2609fps, grouping was about 2 MOA, though groups with other ammo were similar size.
In my BRNO 24" 1:12 twist they averaged 2743fps. Will see if I can track down group size.

Group with the Brno looks around 1.5 MOA, which is about double what the rifle normally shoots.

@Cigar thanks for the numbers mate! Velocity is fine for a cheaper factory load... my Remington BDL left hand has the original factory 22" barrel and averages just under MoA with Federal blue box.

1.5 minute would be acceptable for intended usage. Think I will try a few boxes and see.

I think they might be downloaded and definitely harder projectile than the fed blue sierra hotcor.
I use it in a 7mm08 running 140grains on goats and it performs well with minimal meat damage. It prints same poi as fed blue 150 which is my go to deer round my Marlin.
