I'm out. You will get advice from a bunch of people that have had one for 5mins or have never even used one. Or hate them because they are to pricy but will buy a base model remmy or tikka and add to it so its worth as much as a blaser.
I own one for its use and practicality as hunting rifle that gets used and abused. It's designed accuracy is a bonus.
Owned it for over 10 years. Never needed or owned another centerfire since.
Get whatever you want. You will anyway.

If I knew what either of them were then I might have an opinion and comment but I don't so I won't

Saab Sneeze so it is a scrap. I will have five bucks on R93. Knock out 25 seconds into round two.

I have an R8 and I like it. If you are never happy with the firearm that you have got... I suggest that you don't get one cause I would hate for you not to like it... and its expensive to do that... keep the one that you don't like at the moment... there is no upside here...

It shouldn't turn into a pissing contest but probably will. I am just over what is the best, this and that threads. I know that's not the OP's intention.
However, I agree with Sidney. If you go thru firearms coz you bore easily, I wouldn't get anything Blaser.
In saying all that, if you must get one, either or, will be a good investment.
Both have their pros and cons. Get the one that suits your needs.

Im with you........its halerious when someone comes on and asks which rifle should he buy........ after a page he posts up that he went with XXXXX gun, then 8 pages later hes still being told which rifle is the best. Some people genuinely believe the one they own is the best and every other firearm that has downed more deer than most have hot feeds seem to have feeding problems or arnt ideal bush rifles or are simply shit!! amazing.

They are not the lightest things around but the system works very well.

If starting out new would have to be R8 over the R93 its new technology for a reason, bigger receiver, bigger locking collet, drop out mag.

But as others have said if you chop an change or want really light rifle then its not the one.
Would be better to try one if you could before you go a sell the guns that you like an might not be happy as people like them or hate them.

I've used both systems, the r93 quite alot and the r8 a small ammount.
It is a very intuitive system and I have found them nice to shoot.

The only things I don't like about them is the stock, quality wise it's just a synthetic stock and dosent live up to the quality of the rest of the rifle. Also mounting some scopes can be slightly troublesome.

If I was to buy one I'd order a Christianson arms carbon R93 stock and use Abe's recievers and aftermarket barrels, and just buy the bolt, mags and mounts from Blaser, I think you would end up with a very nice package doing this.

You either have love them or hate them. I have a R93 and love it, not used a R8 before, but if you are thinking about a blaser either one will suit you. An excellent system, one stock/trigger
to get used to and any caliber you like, within reason.

I've had my R93 for 12 years and love it. At various times I've had two actions, three scope mounts, the .223 match barrel, .416RM barrel, off road stock, grade 1 wood stock and .300WM barrel. Great system, great concept. I think the R8 is probably even better. If I want anything fixed or changed now though, I would send it to Abe. I like what he is doing.
10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.

Personally I like the R8 professional stock.. apart from one factor... its heavy.. fit is brilliant, shape is excellent, sound deadening, stable, stiff... not cold to the touch, tactile in the wet...

The only advantage you gain with a carbon fibre stock is weight reduction... is that quality?

Its a synthetic stock, its well built... its designed for practical use, its perfectly consistent with its intended purpose and it is not inconsistent with the quality of the rifle..

There are plenty of options for scope mounting, including the addition of picitinny rails onto the saddle mount. Some scopes are problematic on any rifle.

Heard the carbon fibre one by Christ Arms can be a POS anyway, luck of the draw. Was going to buy one, but at over 2k US it would suck getting one in, only to have to send it back.
