Thread: Rangefinder

Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows any decent rangefinders? I'd use it for long range shots but mostly for bow hunting. considering a low-mid range one?

Jackp, I have a Leupold I can't remember the model without getting up in the attic but it is the second model up and good to 1200 (on a highly reflective surface). It easily ranges deer out to 500. This certainly works well and is capable of more than I will ever use it for which is pretty much only finding the TBR.

Secondhand or new Leica

They get pretty cheap over here on TM.

I'm using the bushnell combination binoculars and rangefinder. Bit on the heavy side, but it gets used for work and play so who's to complain.
Has a "bow" function but don't know if thats any good.

Zeiss Victory is what I have. I would say the latest Leicas are now a bit better. The earlier ones were not.

I see Hamills have the Nikon AS-1000 on special for $699 (normally $849)

Anyone know what they are like?

Does not compute.

I got the bushy elite 1500 has bow mode seems good. Ranges out to 1200 easy on trees . Got 1350 ish on a barn .

I have leica crf which i use with my slc binoculars. wife has the bushnell redefinding binoculars as she didn't want two pieces of gear to fumble.with and I wouldn't let her have geovids.....
the crf and bushnell give the same ranges as each other. the bushnell will actually range further in same conditions(Had over 1800) and the bushnell will tell you angle as you range which would be of use. I have tried the bow feature but have used the angle feature successfully with rifle shooting
leica is clearer than the bushnell and a nice light unit

Thanks guys I'll have a look at the bushnell one and see what she's like. I'd love a leica but dunno if I could justify paying that much when I won't use it all that often. If the bushy works almost as well than it's worth a look I'd say!
