If you already own a 243.... Not a lot of point in building a slower one, even in shorter action,so the 223 still makes sense and gives you versatility.

300 blk is a pretty epic bush calibre I would have thought. With supersonic 110gr pills you’d be able to shoot out to 200. You can run real short barrels. Possibly you’d get more blood trails with the 30cal pills than 223? Also heaps of options for subs if that is of any interest. Can use subs on annoying possums, finishing shots or any other critters you see that you might want to cull without disturbing near by deer. You can get real deadly mono subsonic bullets for deer if you want to save dogs hearing or whatever. Theres a good range of mono supersonic projectiles made specifically for 300blk like barnes tac-tx, maker bullets etc. Heaps of options for subs as well. Heaps of info and videos about them as they are popular in the states in AR platforms.
Fast twist 223 is definitely more versatile in the open country and in general but would have thought 300blk would find its niche in the bush. I’ve recently got one for this purpose but yet to go hunting with it.
That's exactly why the .300 is on the list.

You can do subs in .223 as well...possums won't know difference. Will do everything subsonic 22lr will do with bit of extra projectiles weight.

Deer might though Mr Duck

Honestly, if you have a remington 7 in 223 and already own à 243, just rebarrel in 223 fast twist.
No point mocking around with 6x45 unless you really want to and there are better actions or barrel actions for the 300 blackout , like the howa mini, cz ,Sako or the kimber if you can find one .…etc ( I own a cz in 300 black, a rem 7 in 223 and a reamer in 6x45 that is collecting dust)
Yeah I am pretty much sold on just faster twist.223 and trying to find some $ for the blk in another action at some point in time @Friwi. Had a suggestion about the mag spacer, aside from a longer follower and spring how difficult to remove or modify it to get some more length in the mag box?

I looked into this before splurging on a Badger Ordnance M7 bottom metal.

Looks alright that. Dread thinking about trying to get one into NZ though!

There are ways to mod the factory assembly. I'd source a spare setup (mag box, spring and follower) off a Rem700 first before attempting-https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth...ngton_700_.223
À longer follower could be 3d printed easily.
Unfortunately I have zero 3d printing skills. Pretty sure I have figured out how to shrink the spacer down pretty easily though

The guy who 3d print those chassis on trademe might be able to help you out.?
Yeah I'm in the fast twist 223 camp, it's my favourite rifle that gets pulled out more than any other I have.
And some home loaded subsonic 55gr 223s deal to camp pests and finishing shots
