    Re bluing issues

    Hey guys,

    Tried to re blue the brno 223 with Birchwood cold blue and it came out crap. A rusty type of colour. I put it down to my preparation as the trigger/guard came out really good. So I will heat the barrel in oven or with blow drier and make sure the surface is well polished and De greased well before applying the bluing. I didn't notice any quick change on applying it the first time. Any tips before I have another crack next week?

    Does anyone know someone in Auckland that does a good job? May be an option that I have to consider.

    Cheers,

    Rusky.

    @Rusky

    Birchwood casey cold blue is a very good product that I have used many times to good effect.

    Polish all the parts to a high shine with 0000 steel wool.

    Wear latex gloves when handling the parts and then ....... Degrease, degrease, degrease.

    You could expect to have to apply several coatings to achieve a good quality deep colour finish.

    Use the steel wool to polish in between the coats.

    Post some picks of the final product.

    Cheers
    Pete

    Use the Super blue for a darker deeper blueing.
