Inquired about a rifle on GC website and was told they have none in stock. Said they can order one from the US but could take 6-8 months before i got it. A couple of weeks to arrive from the states then months for paperwork etc? Anyone else experienced this and did it really take that long?
Depends on what you want. As an example for an A category firearm:
NZ Import Permit ~ 1-2 weeks (could even get it in 1 day dependant on AO)
US Export Permit ) ~ 2- 4 weeks
Shipping < 1 week
So a little less than what they stated.

Its more economical to combine orders which is where some of the increase in time comes from.
I got a Henry rifle imported via the local distributor, as he only did 2-3 containers a year it took about 6 months.
Made a %50 deposit on order and payed the rest when I picked up the rifle.
