    Rebarreling m595

Want to rebarrel M595 in 308 or 7mm08. Two questions. Do t3 barrels fit the m595 action and will a 6.5x55 barrel work?
I understand 6.5x55 is classed as a medium action but am unsure.

    Cheers

No, it will not. You need a longer action M695.

260 would be the way to go.

260 ai. 7mm08 too close to 308 to justify although very good with 162gr amaxes

A google search should bring up the relevant thread sizes.
T3 is a lighter profile barrel.

Everyone telling you what cal to get and dont even know what you intend to use it for!

Its currently .243 i havent got anything against .243 however it wont have the legs for longer shots, (out to 500). Im not really fussed on calibre, would much prefer 308 due to cost and massive bullet options. And if i can find a .308 t3 barrel to fit that would keep costs down.

there is going to be no real difference in running costs between the 308, 7mm08, 260 and 243 if you are handloading. if your not handloading then they are not really suitable for that sort of range anyway

if you have a 1:10 twist barrel on your 243 try the targex bullets, 95gr they have a good BC and by the accounts Iv seen they perform well.
its what im currently working with to avoid the rebarrel suituation, run the numbers thru a ballistic calculator and weigh it up, then you can at least wear the barrel out that you have before spending the 700 odd that it may end up costing

Im in the same boat mate, got two 243s and both shoot far too well to throw away the barrels just on a whim
