Recommendation for Enfield No4 front sight adjustment tool

So I need to take off the front sight blade of my LB No 4 Mk 1* to replace the rear handguard ring. I figured taking the front sight blade off will provide enough allowance for the rings to interchange. On inspection of the front sight, it looks like a 2-pin screw head is required to loose the sight blade.

Should I take out the dremel to cut my own screw-bit, get a repro one from Amazon or pony up for some Enfield armourer tools?

    Thanks for the advice.

Old screwdriver, and whack the end off. Cut a slot with the Dremel and go to town...

Don't do that. That screw for adjusting the sight is already weak and you dont want to interfere with it every time you strip your rifle.

Undo the side screw and slide off the sight protector blades. The rings will slip over the bared sight. Just start by pulling the top front wood backwards out of the (loosensd) front ring and there is now room to play.

Forgot to say, to do that you FIRST have to loosen the middle ring, prize open enough to slide that forward enough to allow you to removd the rear top wood.

I'll tell you later, but next step is the magicians' interlocking rings trick. (-:

Thanks Gents. Dremel and a sacrificial screw head is on the cards now.
@Cordite - for the side screw, is that the one set further back from the front sight? I see mine is almost like a pin? I've not tried it to confirm in case its not. I'm more of a Mauser fan in the past and just learning and getting into the Enfields now.

Side screw - left aspect of the front sight protector. Unscrew it and pull it out, you can then slide the sight protector off in a firwards direction.

Got the protector off already. However the front sight blade is in the way of getting the rear handguard ring on and off? I will go figure it out again in the morning. Thanks.

YouTube vid on LE No 4 Mk 1 disassembly. Relevant bit is from 8 mins into video. Do you completely remove fhe barrel band screw? The band has to be pried a bit open for sliding off.

Be careful on removing the lower wood - dont lever it off by pulling down on the front end, as this can damage the draws at the rear. It comes off downwards and forwards, parallel to the front face of the wrist piece.

    Good luck. Stay sane. (-:

Thanks @Cordite. Apologies I learnt the proper name for the ring I intend to replace is the retainer ring for the rear top wood. Rather than the one in the middle. I always thought the ring in the middle is the middle band like the SMLE.

Good luck on your learning curve. If I may point you to an authority on Lee Enfields, google search for Peter Laidler. Hd is the horse's mouth. Read hisopinion on anything Lee Enfield in the first i stance. Will save you much grief.

Thanks @Cordite. I used a broken 2 pin screw head and filed the broken teeth with a hand file and sawed a rough edge into the middle and used a diamond file to file a deeper gap. Whole endeavour took 5 mins. Far quicker than my dremel in this case. All done now and the LB is back to normal.
