I use Howard Leight electronic muffs with plugs.
I like the lower profile when shooting rifles.
Using Open class pistols under cover then its grade 5 muffs and plugs.
The plugs stay in all the time but the muffs come off when not shooting.
I just splashed out on these...mainly for work but also for shooting etc

I hope they are good.
Have the grade 5 budget ones...virtually never wear them...use earplugs mostly but dealing with staff/customers all day as well as trying to make some noise myself they are in and out like Aaron Smith in a airport toilet....I struggle to hear voices with backround noise like two stereos blaring ,someone grinding, someone else hammering and someone else trying to talk to me from across the workshop so plugs are out more often than in which wont be helping.
As a handy benefit they will hopefully also be good at the range and hunting also as I am paying for them not work.
Ive got some electronic muffs but I don't know how they would handle the grinding dust in the air and filth on my hands
I have 3m peltor grade 5 and they are really comfortable. If you want extra protection use plugs as well. Got the muffs of trademe for a good price new, worth a look
