    Red field warranty

    Went hunting this weekend been.

Was good fun. One bloke saw 12 Rusa hinds

Any tips for them? As is spooked 3

    Anyway.

It has a drop of water in the scope! It goes away when it's on 9 power zoom

The Leopold warranty isn't covered as it is very old.

The people who do fix them charge and it takes ages. Anyone had any experience with this process?

    Cheers

I thought Redfield had a limited life-time warranty?

If its old, the only guy I know (that doesn't mean much-there are probably heaps of others) is Wilhelm arms and optics. He USED to repair scopes, may not anymore.
In saying that, if the warranty is gone burger you may be able fix it if you know a welding shop who might let you purge the scope with some nitrogen/argon yourself for a couple of beers?
Have to pull it apart and dry it first.

I think these oldredfields are collectors items now. My 1970s 4x32 got a bit of moisture inside and I retired it. The replacement vx1 2-7 isn’t as sharp but does the job better. I use the Redfield sometimes in less demanding situations wheee it won’t get too cold and condense. Eg for 22 shooting and on the range and as a spare.

I think it would be worth getting in touch with Richard Wilhelm in Christchurch and he may know if anyone still does it in nz. A quarte century ago I gave home a re fogged 2-7x redfield for Parts but that’s how long ago it was.

There's a guy in Upper Hutt who repairs 'scopes and makes a good job. PM @Brian on here if you want more details.

They used to. They went bust and an American company bought the tooling and spares etc. Leopold bought the name. So any scopes lost 2010 are Leopold warranty. Anything before costs 100 American bucks.

I have found Andrew from the Hutt valley so I'll go with him but I will have a look at Wilhelm arms and optics.

We have nitrogen at work. Will look into making a fitting to purge an old one when I find one to muck around with.

I'd do it inside a large zip lock bag. Use the end of a hose and aim it into the lens and scope body to wash out the air. Then let the bag fill a bit so there is no air in there and screw it together.
Doesn't matter now, looks like you have it sorted. Good shit
