    Rem 597 firing pin issues

I have pulled apart the action to clean it but never touched the firing pin assembly block just blew it out and now it doesnt hit the cartridge hard enough to set it off.
Any ideas as its a mates rifle that he took back to the farm and now doesnt go!

Most likely you've got some burnt powder residue in it.
The firing pin can be removed and cleaned up, or try some brake/carb cleaner (aeresol type) sprayed into the firing pin hole then oil it after that.
Check out Model 597 - RimfireCentral.com Forums for some tips on stripping etc.
