Rem Model 7 Questions - scope mounts

Must have been my lucky day yesterday. Shot two deer that the truck could drive right up to.

But - topic at hand, a cobber has been looking for a Tikka 260, so I was doing the rounds of the Gunshops and came across a Remington Model 7 S/S in 260. It was in nice shape (carried a lot but looked after inside) and a very good price so it followed me home as he was set on a Tikka.

This Model 7 is what I take to be an older rifle and only has three mount holes in the receiver. I'd like to use Talley lightweight ring mounts . . . has anyone drilled an tapped an extra hole in the rear bridge to do this ?? Has anyone got a later model Rem Model 7 handy that could measure the distance between the rear bridge holes so I can see if mine can be tapped?

    Thanks

I was pretty sure that by the time the 260 came into fruition that the model 7 was already a 4 hole action, but I could be wrong. Are you able to determine what twist the barrel is? Early ones were 11" and the later ones (which will shoot 130gr+ bullets) are 9.5"
    270 is a harmonic divisor number[1]
270 is the fourth number that is divisible by its average integer divisor[2]
270 is a practical number, by the second definition
The sum of the coprime counts for the first 29 integers is 270
270 is a sparsely totient number, the largest integer with 72 as its totient
Given 6 elements, there are 270 square permutations[3]
    10! has 270 divisors
270 is the smallest positive integer that has divisors ending by digits 1, 2, …, 9.

Just use the rings anyway. Still work with 1 rear screw.

Thanks Guys - its definitely a three hole action (that sounds vaguely dodgy eh?) and is a 1:9 twist (or maybe 1:9.25) so I'm in luck there. Its going to replace a Howa mini as my "truck gun" so I want to have the scope as "bulletproof" as possible, hence four tiny little screws seem better than three . . . . but I hear you on just use them

One of mine was 3 holes. Never had a problem and Talleys and Model 7s go together like peas and carrots.

I had Gunworks convert one of mine to a 4 hole action - but as others have noted no issue (but not ideal) with just using one screw on the rear ring. Use plenty of good araldite if you do...

I think its Gamereaper? or something that do a one piece ring/rail setup for model 7's. Strong and light. I used a set of Model 700 rings on a Model 7, just shortened the rear base and rather than drilling and tapping a second hole just put a pin in and epoxied the ring to the receiver

Edit to add: DNZ products Gamereaper mount is what it's called
If it's not a first round hit you need to practice more

I have got the DNZ Gamereaper mount on my 3 hole model 7. Pretty good option I think.
