From the point of view of some one who has worked on far to many of them
Over the years put magazine money towards something else
Unless it bloody cheap sub $50 even then I would
    Have second thoughts

    The actions crack
    The trigger housings break
    The hammers break
    The sears break
    Firing pins break
    Guide springs collapse
    Magazine lips wear out
Bottom of the mags break off spilling there guts in the grass

And that was just the 22lr ones
The other 17 and 22 mag ones would explode
Most of the time sending shrapnel into the shooters
    Arm

One good thing about Remington going under was
Not seeing them on a regular basis

They are a really nice rifle - until the mags start giving trouble. They seem to work for hundreds of rounds, then all of a sudden they won't feed because the cartridges jam in the mag. Plastic or alloy mags same thing. They need to be spotless inside, any residue and your trouble begins.

A shame, as I really like mine.

I have one and for a couple of hundy it would come complete with the rest of the rifle assuming you are looking for 22LR model . Ive not used it in at least 10 years
From memory mag worked fine as long as you only loaded 8 rounds

I've had my 597 for over 20 years and not had anything break on it.

It was an unreliable POS when I first had it but replaced extractor and it's been pretty good every since.
Not like it runs perfectly but it's certainly not a complete POS.

There were some mags floating around in the FS section a few years back, I'd put a post up there and see if you get any bites.
