Looking at a mod to my remington bolt...I have put in a link and wondered if anyone knew of a gunsmith who could/would do this work?

Looks like an enormous amount of shagging around in my book. I just cut the knob off with an angle grinder and tig welded a threaded end off a bolt.
Oh, and Tactical and Practical are not "hand in glove". I have reservations about doing this now on a hunting rifle.
I got gun works to do mine years ago. Think it was 1st one they had done
Made custom stainless knob and did amazing job
Drewski,
Most rifles were designed to have optimal hunting ergonomics for a wide range of situations, when insufficient thought is put into modifications the end result can be a rifle that is more difficult to use in one or more of those situations.

This provides an easy path to test if the tacticool knob is to your liking.
Dont fix what isn't broken......thanks for the wakeup guys its appreciated.

It's not as sleek as the original knob. I bought a Badger copy and it is OK but can catch on bushes etc. As others has said, don't fix what ain't broke.
If you're doing all tops hunting or wearing gloves etc it may be more practical to have a "large knob".
Am I going to regret posting that?

For my hunting rifle I went slightly lighter but didn't flute. Mainly because the original knob was interfering with scope rain covers, so gunworks milled the handle.
That looks nice...weight reduction is always a positive thing.
