    Removing old bases

Hello. I bought a Remington VTR from a hunting and fishing shop a few years ago and they put those little half bases on as part of the package. Problem is I have a direct mount NF ring and base set I want to put on there now but it looks like they may have loctitided the screws. If I look where the bases meet the rifle I can see a pink/red line. Im hoping its not red loctite as I heard it can withstand heat up to 260 degrees or so. Also looks like one of the allen key screws is almost round off

Any ideas on the best way to remove the screws

A small gas lighter/propane torch and directly heat the screw hard and fast for about 30 seconds then undo
