Everytime I watch or read about Rhodesia, my urge to buy a FAL intensifies
I'm sure Vickers has a vid of him in the Russian army museum with a Mozambique captured Rhodesian FAL as well.
My family links for that part of the world are more associated with this... being at the receiving end that is.

Yes, not nice to face well practiced riflemen with Mausers.
Great Grand Dad referred to his short NZ pattern MK1 or MK1* (not exactly sure) as a pom pom gun in the Radio NZ interview he had in 1974.
I have a CD of that, from Sound Archives NZ (or whatever the new name is).
I can't make it public, as I acquired free of charge due to the family connection.
Will send to you as a private link.
cheers
I have lost count of how many of those FAL i stripped and serviced and then rebuilt, i had one of my own as well. great gun.
Was lucky enough to get my grubby paws on a G3 and a VZ58 as well. towards the end of my time in SA also found and bought a FAL heavy barrel pretty rare gun, stripped and rebuilt it as well but never got a chance to shoot her.

Are those Portuguese or German manufactured G3s?
During the Rhodesian War my dad was on occasion issued a Portuguese manufactured G3, (no doubt donated by the Porraz when they pulled out of Moz). It was not well-liked when compared to the FN FAL they were usually issued. I think from memory the SA Marines were issued with G3s during their short existence. I don't know what country they were manufactured in though.
