Hey guys.
Just picked up a wee secondhand Savage mk2 .22 lefty!! On inspection the breach has got some nasty marks from the firing pin im presuming its been dry fired a few times Will this effect the way it shoots in anyway? All else seems in good order.

I'll take a look and a photo of mine tonight to see what it looks like.
I bought mine new a few years back new, and no doubt my kids as well as myself have dry fired it after cleaning, and when they have forgotten to chamber a round etc... will see if any similar marks...
As long as it extracts cleanly and the firing pin is not damaged I wouldn't worry about it. Looking at the pic it is only surface damage an not a gouge that the brass can expand into.

looks ok doesnt look like the edge of the chamber has damage dont get to hung up on dry firing on some rifles its the only way to decock them
Do yourself a favor replace the bottom metal round the mag entry for a heavier guage - these are all to light metal and in a boyds stock loosen over time as pillars changing the harmonics.
Chamber looks ok - as R93 said check the firing pin and ejectors for wear they're the bits that'll wear havong owned one of these previously.
Semi-autos can be difficult but on most you can pull the bolt back slightly and then dry fire them which avoids the firing pin hitting the breech face.Quote:
