Thread: Ruger M77 International info

I've finally managed to track down a Ruger M77 Mkii international (full wood mannlicher stock) in .308. Just wondering if anyone else has one, in what calibre and your thoughts on them? Personally I'm a huge fan, but have seen bugger all in the country

I have seen one Mk II in 270, It was for sale at the time but that short barrel in 270 with no ability to suppress meant I passed. John Dyer (spelling?) from F&G did an article in NZ Guns and Hunting on a Mk I tang safety version that he owned back in the day.

I really like fullstock rifles and have owned a few. Always wanted a no.1 international. The 77 is rather chunky around the action, wood is typically quite plain and straight grained. Not generally considered to be tack drivers, but should be good for 1.5moa. Nice compact rifle which looks great, and handles well. Red rubber butt pad and open sights are nice also. If you don’t buy it, I’d be asking for the details.

It's not that these are especially rare in NZ, I think it's just that people tend to hang onto them . . .

Solid, strong, at the agricultural end of the spectrum. Not out of place in a lineup of russian kit to be fair...

Two things that aren't good about them in my opinion, the mounts are propriety design and don't offer a full range of issues and the other thing that can create issues is the design of the action king screw which pulls the action back into the stock. Presents another challenge when doing anything with them for bedding.
