    Ruger's SR-22

We picked up one of these yesterday and while I haven't done a great deal of shooting with it yet I thought I would give my initial opinion.

It has a 10-22 action in a AR style stock.
This rifle has a Vortex Diamondback 4-12X40AO scope fitted and comes in at 3.5kg according to the bathroom scales. With a heavy 16" barrel and overall length of around 35" it is proving difficult to shoot offhand as it is waves around a bit but good off a rest.
Using CCI Mini-Mag 36gr ammunition the tightest group at 50m so far is 16mm for 9 shots with the average group around 25mm although I'm sure it will tighten up as it was supplied with loose screws that I don't have the right tool to tighten here and a shit set of rings.
Within the first 300 rounds we had about 10 jams but the next 150 rounds have been fine which is what I would have expected.

The machining seems to be very good and the finish on the exterior metal very good. The stock to "recoil" pad fit is rough at best. The switch to lock open the action is not well designed and difficult to get used to but seems to work Ok once you have figured it out.Safety is standard Ruger 10-22 safety as is the magazine. The grip is rubber and the foregrip is drilled and tapped for quad rails.

Overall I think it a neat rifle that will be a great possum and rabbit shooter as it's just plain fun to shoot!

I had the opportunity to shoot a suppressed one of these last week. It was good fun. It had a red-dot on it so it was hard to take seriously as far as accuracy was concerned but as you said, great fun. For the meantime the pistol grip is still allowed too.

My big gripe with them is the A cats are $1200+ (Serious shooters) and the E cats were double that. It's a 10/22!!!

Plus from what I could see you have to actually take the scope rail off to get to the insides. I've got two 10/22's and even with the clean burning CCI's you have to give it a clean every now and then. Having to take the scope off is enough of a turn off for me to not have any interest in the gun. Granted this is only what I could see from handling it, it might not be the case.

    I'll stick with my 10/22.
