    Sako 75 - Lapua

Out of curiosity would there be enough meat in a Sako 75 action to open it up to a lapua based cartridge? Specifically a .300 norma mag.
There are the 338 lapua sako 85's but im guessing their overall dimensions are a bit larger.

I havn't really found any info online about the subject - it always brings up the TRG-S actions.

    Cheers

My guess would be no. The Sako actions don't have enough meat in the Tenon to handle Lapua Mag based cases (except for the 85 XL and TRG actions which is specifically designed for these cases)
If it's not a first round hit you need to practice more

Yep most Smiths wont do a 28 Nosler on a Tikka/Sako action due to tenon thread size being smaller than the likes of a R700 etc, so the larger dia Lapua/norma will be a no go.

Cheers guys, I thought that may have been the case.
Are the XL 85's a slighty wider action then?

This is a picture of a 505 Gibbs and 338 lapua case in a sako 85 L action. As said above the tenon is too small to accommodate those big cases .Name: image.jpeg
