They are beautiful things alright, but over 3 x the cost of a T3 with the same barrel and weight in magnum chambering. Sorry, I just don’t get it.
For about the same money you could have a custom action, Bartlein cut rifled barrel, carbon stock and Jewell trigger plus smithing to screw it all together. For half the money you could buy a new T3 and stick it in a carbon stock like Shearer did.
Well, I can, but I won’t as we all make our own choices (and I like Sako rifles too).
I went down the custom route and it cost me about the same.
I bet you won't find a carbon stock remotely comparable to the Sako Carbonlite one for durability and strength.

Well, that was fun to watch wasn't it ?
I expecxt te Tikka would handle it too, but I wonder how a blouser or SMLE would function after being jammed full of mud.
Of course, its easy to imagine real life mishaps much more testing than that: a fall on river boulders, drop down an orongorongo waterfall, liquid fuel stove leak etc. It would have been interesting to see a whole of system test, say retaining zero with a simple 6x Schmidt in optilock rings or after a good freeze thaw cycle, wipedown with WD40 and a bit of rattling around in the tray of a quad with steel gong targets.
