    sako finnlite

hi I have a sako 75 in 2506 with a 24in hunter barrel, very nice rifle but a tad heavy, I,m getting an op on my right shoulder for a torn rotator cuff and have been told I will be off the road for 6 months, would the finnlite be a lighter option. your opinions please

Sako 85 finnlight is 2.8kg in SA, 2.9kg in MA and 3.1kg in LA

    Sako 75 MA is 3.1kg

The 85 finnlight equivalent is 200g less

    So yes

Or keep the rifle and do some proper recovery work with the Physio.
    Welcome to Sako club.

just bear in mind that lighter means it will kick harder in the same caliber

I had my op 6 weeks ago. I was using my .22 msg after 4 weeks. .308 fine now.

i suggest u save ur pennies until after the op. You could shave 200g off by fluting etc, plus u end up with a pretty rifle for way less cost than a new one

Consider a Sauer 202 with fluted barrel. I had a Finnlight and the rubber inserts on the stock started to peel off which is really annoying. As stated earlier - it will kick more but then I only fire my Sauer once or maybe twice a day when hunting. I have no doubt the Sauer is better quality than the Sako. Sportways have them on special at the moment. All the best. Gunzrrr

Not quite. Mine were loose bodies (imagine 2 pieces each the size of the last joint of your little finger). So i actually had full motion within 36 hrs. Its sore as today after splitting wood on Sunday. The optimist in me says that eventually, your shoulder will feel waaay better. Keep the rifle u enjoy. Id explore changing rifle only after your shoulder has healed and strengthened, if you must. My 5c worth.
Don't worry about the op. This is the surgeons speciality. Trust them.

You already have a great rifle, and will eventually heal, so: square flute the barrel and bolt, section the bolt handle, change out your rings for lightweight Talleys, you will then match the Finlite for weight. Of course no one really needs a logical reason to get a new rifle except when the wife needs to agree.......

Buying new gear is cool and will make you feel better while in surgery
As your therapist id say buy that rifle and keep smiling will also give you motivation to get back out
Trying to justify a few hundred grams vs a few thousand is mad

We all love buying new shit and your not talking about a speed boat or race car
