    Sako rail removal

    Hiya had my gunsmith tap my rail on my sako and at the same time he glued it on(not sure why) now I cant get it off ,tried heating it but didn't budge.any other ideas how to break down the glue cheers

    Yip yip done that said to heat and lightly tap,might have to get him to remove it if he can

    You'd have to get it pretty hot, I suspect giving it hundies with a heat gun couldn't possibly damage it. What's the annealing temp of staino

    Heat it up, beat the shit out of it with a hammer, it'll come off. A couple of good decent knocks directly on the top should help.

    Attach some beefy rings and scope... something sturdy like a nightforce and get an assistant to hold it muzzle up with the butt on the ground.
    A couple of good swings of a bit of 4x2 about 1200 long down onto the objective bell of the scope should pop that rail off no problems

    I take it you are tapping it towards the recoil pad not the muzzle?

    A short bit of alloy flat bar used as a punch will let you give it a decent twat without denting stuff.

    Another option, is chuck rifle in the deep freeze over night, as a lot of glues and resins, become brittle with cold,

    Sorta looks like the rail is over the tapered dovetail as well?. Have you tried tapping it backwards?
