scope advice
Hi guys
im new to this forum and sport, ive introduced myself on here and had a friendly welcome(thank you for that)
now ive sorted what i want for a rifle ( a tikka t3 .270 rem) and now i would like abit of advice on scopes, there are a few packages round for these guns and as far as a package goes i was looking at the rifle with a burris fullfeild 2 2x9-40.
my questions are ive been looking at buying a second hand scope, mainly leupold and the ones ive been looking at are a vx2 4x12-40 or a vx2 3x9-40
these are about the same price as the new scope with the package which would i go for?
i was just trying to get a better quality scope by going second hand, for same price i spend on a lessor scope new?
have i got this right?
thanks Ben

You wont be dissapointed in either. I have 4 different burris scopes, the 3-9x40 on a 243, 4-12x40 on 17hmr (off the top of my head), 2-7x40 eurospec (bloody nice compax scope) on a 308 and 4-16x50 XTR on the 300wsm, all are good quality scopes that i have had no issues with. The leupold vx2 may be a slightly higher quality than the burris fullfield but i really dont think you will notice the difference tbh, others might disagree. If your happy with the quality of the 2nd hand scope, no marks whatsoever on the glass and no scope ring marks or crushed tube then a 2nd hand scope will be fine.
Personally i would just buy new and get the retailers warranty and support.

ok thanks good advice, also what range of zoom would be best for the gun im looking at a "3x9" or a "4x12"
-
In the bush 3-9, in the open/tops 4-12

3-9 is perfect for a hell of a lot of uses. I use 4.5-14 and 5-20 but I dont bush hunt much at all. (read: never shot anything in the bush).
I recommend one of these above a vx2, for no other reason than I just really rate mine.

Hey Mate, as Beavis said really like the Bushnell Elite for similar money, also have a look at the Nikon Monarch range, really happy with mine!

If it was me, I'd bring in a Weaver Grandslam 3x10x40 from "The Optic Zone" and be done with it.
-
Opticzone is cheaper and better to deal with than the riflescope store...
You can search all night and you may just may find cheaper than the opticzone but i doubt it..
I just ordered one of these for my 22mag.. Good $$$$
Weaver Classic 2-10x38, Dual-X, Matte | Rifle Scopes

Your talking 400USD for the monarch , I was talking 290USD for the grandslam, one will come in under the gst mark, one won't and as the original poster was talking about Burris Fullfield or secondhand Leupy vx2 prices I thought the Weaver G/Slam was more in that range
It also has very good tracking and good glass for the price.

Re: scope advice
Natchez is the cheapest site for superslams and arcadia sales is the cheapest for sightron . Both by up to a couple hundred US.
