    Scope Rings

I've recently become a rifle owner again with the purchase of a sexy new .45-70 (Porn pics to come once everything is set up. I need some 1" medium height scope rings that fit a picatinny rail in order to mount my scope. The world of scope ring variety is confusing to me, which brand/model should I be buying?

At this stage I don't think I need any special features like quick detatch or adjustment inserts. I just want to connect the scope to the rifle in a secure fashion that will hold zero. Bonus points if you can link me to a shop that's actually selling the rings you recommend, and has them in stock.

Looks like I just missed them. I think they're exactly what I'm after, though. Might see if the local shops have them new.

Over the years I’ve had more issues with rings than probably any other aspect of rifle setup.
It’s very easy to overlook the importance of the rings/ mounts .
Buy the best you can afford is my advice , I now factor in at least $250 for rings when setting up a new rifle .
Also if you get quality rings they will last you a lifetime and they will be interchangeable / usable with many of your future rifles.
    Buy once, cry once .

That "clothing store" did a really good job of handling delivery of my rifle, while the gun/locksmith was shut to move premises, so I feel like they're my first choice for this purchase.

Where has the gun shop moved to?
I think a few doors towards town, I just saw the original shop stripped out, and their hunter cutout sign in the window of another stripped shop down the road a bit. Will try to have a look today to see what's up.

Can you elaborate? What issues have you encountered regarding rings?

I've just bought some and went for the lowest I could find height wise and made sure I got a manufacturer I recognized. Weaver ended up fitting the bill and cost 120ish.

    I wouldn't touch the 30 dollar specials I've seen.

I've got some new Weaver 1 inch rings (it says high, fits up to 44mm objective) if that's of interest . $25 including postage.

Don't hold them on my accord, I've realised I probably need to confirm the height I want once I've got the suppressor to put in the way.

Well, neither local gun shop had any 1" Medium rings with a picatinny base, so I've ordered the Leupold PRW2s from Gunworks.
