Scope zeroed close to maximum adjustment issue?

Has anyone had any issues with using a scope with its zero close to maximum elevation adjustment.

My 100yd zero is only 1 click (.25 MOA) from maximum down elevation. It’s great for me as I have almost the entire elevation adjustment free for dialing up but I was curious if it has any mechanical disadvantages like the erector being so far out of centre or tracking issues with it being close to max?

I'd say there are a lot of long-range shooters with 20-40 MOA rails PLUS the reticle at max for elevation.
I've never heard of any problems with these guys, but perhaps others or scope manufacturers say otherwise?

The optical quality can suffer, but generally mechanically you'll be ok.

I did have a scope that was at the extreme edge of the adjustment range, where the windage wouldn't adjust until you dial elevation up a little bit where is would then jump across.

So yeah you really don't want to be at the very very edge of the adjustment range.

I haven’t found optic quality suffer noticeably.

Going to test the tracking on it soon to see how it tracks

Do you have a 20 or 30 or 40 moa rail fitted and .... is it on backwards?

Git yourself a March Genisis scope if you are worried about optic clarity at the end of adjustment or need lots of adjustment... the 4 to 40 is magic.

0MOA DPT rail, a rail with elevation built it would put me way past max. Meaning I am able to utilise nearly the entire elevation adjustment if needed.

I think Ryan is on to something here, I recently had an issue with a set of rings that were miss matched (brand new in packaging) which created same issue.
Worth checking/measuring your rings to see if they are matching heights.

That is a good point, happens to be new rings with the scope too. Warne mountain tech.

The rail and action combo have been together since 2016 with plenty of scopes trialed this is the first to be close to max.

Will definitely check that out thanks

A Friend of mine had this issue. Invercargill gunsmith Nelson Collie traced it to a problem with his rings /rail.
    Maybe look there.
