Semi custom rifle, what's it worth?

    Hi guys,
Looking for a bit of advice on this. Unfortunately I'm going to have to part ways with this rifle. I know what it cost me to build 6 months ago, but I don't know what sort of money I should be asking for it.

Built on a brand new Bergara b14 300 win mag action that had never fired a shot.
    Action trued.
24" proof research carbon barrel - 1:8.44 twist.
    Trigger tech special trigger
    Manners EH2 carbon stock
    Hardy Gen 5 magnum suppressor
    Javelin bipod
Hawkins hybrid 25moa rings with can't level
Topped with a zeiss conquest v6 5-30 which was also brand new at the time and doesn't have a mark on it
Fired only 100 rounds total (at the most)
Shoots perfectly, half MOA even with factory ammo.
Comes with redding master hunter die set and also redding body die along with 40 or so adg brass
Will be a very regretful sale.

Thanks in advance if any of you guys can give me a rough figure oh and it's a 28 nosler

its only worth what someone else is prepared to pay for it....
a forum member built up similar rifle same time back in 27 nosler.....thats now onsold too.
IM GUESSING 2k -3k ??? you will be lucky to get any more than nearest new off shelf equivilent even though what you offering is arguably better.
you MAY BE better off breaking it apart and selling in bits.

Try like hell to find something else that you can liquidate without copping a massive loss, which is pretty much guaranteed with these semi custom rifles.

I had a similar but lower spec build in 30 nosler. McMillan stock , rem700 action, bartlein barrel with a 5-20 nightforce shv on it. I got 4k scoped for it.. that was in pre covid times where money was less scarce. Good luck, hopefully this gives you a ball park. Beautiful build

Its like selling a custom built car, you'll never recoup what you put into it.

would have to know the full cost of the build but probably around 3ish k without a scope, the return on custom builds is pretty low as you build it to your specific intensions/preferences and if you charge a near new price any buyer would rather just do a custom build themselves, unless you are in a real need of cash your better of keeping it

You will get more if you part it out, from easiest to hardest to sell.

    Scope & Rings

    Bipod

    Supressor

    Trigger

    Stock

    Barrelled action

Be a shame to sell it.

Is it insured.....? Be a tragedy if you backed over it

I think buzzman is about right,(sadly) but I’d sell the javelin bipod separately & probably the suppressor too and that should give you a better total payback. Maybe sell scope first if you need to free up some $ and sit on the rest.

    Agree.
Sell scope, rings, suppressor and bipod separately, they should hold their value pretty well.

I'm guessing the build was 4-5k. You may get lucky and find its exactly what someone wanted but realistically probably worth 3k for bare rifle.

No idea what it’s worth but i’d say the above is right in terms of selling a few items individually. Very nice rifle

Some very valid points made above.... factory guns have better resale than custom or semi custom guns no matter how much you've spent getting them to exactly how YOU like them to be.

I recall having to sell off my Uncles Custom Precision Rifles in 2010 following his passing - after a while trying I ended up selling the scopes and throwing in a free rifle.....

In longrange riflery, trajectory is the pure science part. Gravity is a constant for our purposes.
Wind is in the art department.
    Light is pure fucking voodoo.

Lovely rifle mate with some really nice components. Did Dean smith yours? With custom rifles the smith that machined it and put it all together is quite an important factor. Theres several smiths i'd be happy with, others not so much.

Ive got a pretty good idea of what it'd owe you, after building my full custom, Stiller action, CF stock, Bartlein, Timney CE trigger, Hawkins rings etc.

Ive also purchased another semi custom (near new) similar to yours but on a new Rem 700 action but with a S/S custom barrel not proof CF. I only purchased it for the components in it really, as the price was too good to pass up for the parts i wanted.

I would have gladly paid you 3.5-4K for your rifle if i hadnt already have spent a whole lot more on mine.
