I went in to the station yesterday with all paperwork filled out and he did all the necessary computer work to prep for the arms officer. He then put it in the tray for her to collect and was saying this is normally where it goes missing. Should hopefully get something back today to say shes signed and faxed it. Just dont like it when even the officers are acknowledging how many forms they're losing

you need a police form for mailing ammo yet I'm sure if you went to an H+F store and they didn't have your applicable .339 wonderbee cartridge there but it was at one of the other stores, what's the difference them getting it from them, or the same for a rifle that isn't in stock. What's the difference? They have the power to inspect your license is valid and matches you for retail purposes but not for mailing?
I couldn't agree any more with this statement. Up until a Couple of days ago I thought this made complete sense

the arms office down here is only open for a couple of hours each day, i have the hours written down so when i need to see arms officer i go in when they are open, saves the hassle of losing forms, messages not getting passed on etc.

Your lucky ours isn't even in the same building, Get it signed off at police station and they say you can take the form straight around

then you get there you are sent back to the police station to submit it only for it to get emailed back to them

Geez some you guys really make an easy thing out to be hard, wether you like it agree with it or not to send your rifle by courier you need the form PERIOD.
Fill out the form it's really not difficult, email it, drop it in or send it by carrier pidgeon to the arms officer and it will usually be emailed back unless otherwise arranged.
I've done this a few times and it's never been an issue.
    It really is that simple.
If this pocedure is too hard or complicated to comprehend then don't sell ya gear to people who can't pick up or drop off.

We're all talking about how an easy thing is being made hard. All necessary steps have been taken by every person who has made comment here. Clearly you have had a better run than what we have and that's great.

A lot of Police Stations don't have an Arms Officer, here the local officer checks the form and your ID, then it gets sent to Hamilton which covers the Waikato etc. If your lucky and the Arms Officer is working out of Hamilton Station and not on days off or elsewhere the seller might get the form within a couple of days. All thanks to "Heather"

Last time took a few days it was less than a week, I wouldn't panic just yet.

Iv had it take over a week for them to email the form though.
Combined with the fact that its a 30min or so drive each way to the cop shop, and it can only be done on weekdays can make it a bit of a hassle.

Na I think they are just under staffed. I rang today and they couldn't find it and both arms officers were away. I found out one was coming in for a meeting so waited for him and he signed it on the spot, it meant filling out another form and doing it again. The problem here is getting it to the arms officer to sign off.
