Hay all, I purchased a rifle off here and we organized for it to be sent through hunting and fishing franklin to napier where I am. I have always sent firearms through them as they view your license in person and it avoids the paperwork hold up. However hnf franklin are now requesting a mail order form to send to their napier branch? Is this a new thing? Am I correct in thinking that this shouldn't be required and napier just view my license? Dont want to exchange words going in half cocked
Been like that for a couple years now
I sent one about 6 months ago from napier but maybe they missed it. Didn't want to get toey without the factsQuote:

Yeah I'll have to do it I'd say, I just dont like it as the paperwork went "missing" twice for my ar and it seemed to be an endless process trying to chase it.Quote:

So going to the police station with the form pre filled out (download it of the police website) and fill it out before going to the Station
It only takes seconds for them to check your license and fax it to the ao for sign off

Yes it can’t be shiped to your door (fair enough imo the amount of firearms that the rural postie has left on my doorstep) id prefer to know its Secure and pick it up from the depot or local gun shop
Ive always used fastway with no issues but last time they broke the stock inhalf on a ruger m77
So ill probably try someone else next time
I went in to the station yesterday with all paperwork filled out and he did all the necessary computer work to prep for the arms officer. He then put it in the tray for her to collect and was saying this is normally where it goes missing. Should hopefully get something back today to say shes signed and faxed it. Just dont like it when even the officers are acknowledging how many forms they're losing

Geez some you guys really make an easy thing out to be hard, wether you like it agree with it or not to send your rifle by courier you need the form PERIOD.
Fill out the form it's really not difficult, email it, drop it in or send it by carrier pidgeon to the arms officer and it will usually be emailed back unless otherwise arranged.
I've done this a few times and it's never been an issue.
It really is that simple.
If this pocedure is too hard or complicated to comprehend then don't sell ya gear to people who can't pick up or drop off.

A lot of Police Stations don't have an Arms Officer, here the local officer checks the form and your ID, then it gets sent to Hamilton which covers the Waikato etc. If your lucky and the Arms Officer is working out of Hamilton Station and not on days off or elsewhere the seller might get the form within a couple of days. Na I think they are just under staffed. I rang today and they couldn't find it and both arms officers were away. I found out one was coming in for a meeting so waited for him and he signed it on the spot, it meant filling out another form and doing it again. The problem here is getting it to the arms officer to sign off.Quote:
