Thread: Shipping rifles to Oz...

Fellas, has anyone moved to Aus and taken their rig over?

I spend a lot more time in Oz now and will be here for the next 5+ years so keen to ship my rig over once I have my license here.

What was the process like?
Any tips etc would be helpful....

I have done it twice now.

Ideally you want to get your Australian license first. You can then apply to purchase a firearm and would also apply for a import permit, B709A it is called.

Otherwise you need to get it sent to a dealer for storage until you get your license and a pta.

Unless you have outstanding gear, just bring your scope and possibly mounts with you and buy a rifle here. Look on used guns. Second hand gear here tends to be used less than In NZ and possibly a touch cheaper.
