Shortening a laminate stock

Howdy
Probably 2" of eye relief is all I need,but the scope wont go any further back,its on the last notch of the base and I need a more generous recoil pad.What would you use?

You will obviously affect your length of pull in cutting the stock down... Is it the right lenght for you now? if so you will just create a different problem to the one you have now..

I just shortened a boyds forestock and it was alot softer than I expected... anyhow took half an hour of sanding to square it back up after I shot through it with unexpectedly no resistance using a jigsaw because I was too lazy to set the the SCMS.

Thats exactly what I want to avoid.Assuming I get a 90* cut,would a bandsaw be better than a circular saw?

If I set up the SCMS I could lay the stock upside down on the table and get a good cut.

Your issue is there are no flat spots to do that, Id wrap tape around the edge you want to cut and clamp it in something and use a fine tooth handsaw as the laminate will splinter.

If I do this right then I wont have to trade it in for a Howa HCR.Probably...

I'd screw the stock to a plank through the action screwholes and turn her upside down.Would a circular saw kill the laminate?

tape where you are going to cut and just use a skilly, sand and smooth off. The tape fucking works a treat

Skill saw with fine finishing blade is what I used only works if you are very good with the saw and can cut straight alot of pepole can't

Tip: what ever you use to cut it hit the cut with a few layers of masking tape 1st cut through the masking tape as this stops the wood from spilntering and leaving chips arround the outside in the final finish

I used a coping saw :D just fore end though
