    shortening stock

I have a sneaky suspicion that the stock on the Parker Hale is a bit long once I have the scope fitted (long story). No recoil pad at the moment and once that is fitted I can guarantee its a bit long. My 243 is a little bit like that with the scope fitted but I'm not changing that
Once i have confirmed this, is there anyone handy to me that can help with the shortening? Be nice to have the section in case it ever needs to be made longer, so needs to be done with a proper saw.
    Beer economy if it suits.
    Cheers

Could do it for you but am in NI. I use a 90 tooth tungsten tipped mitre saw. Tape the intended cut line tightly with electrical or masking tape to prevent splitting the edges and use a sacrificial block of wood against the comb so the stock can be well braced against the cutting bench and at the correct angles before you cut. If needed a fine finish can be completed using a rigid bench mounted sanding wheel.

@Woody cheers for that, but do agree. You are a bit far away.
What you suggested is pretty much how think it should be done. although i did picture a bench saw.

I hear you but if I get someone to help sort of, then I can say I've done it. If I give it to Zac, which could still happen, it's more like a job.
PITA now not having much access to engineering stuff to do things.
