Recently acquired a spotting scope and have noticed that when the focus ring is not tight against the rear mounting bracket there is a very noticeable up and down movement. The base plate is firmly attached to the tripod and it is the actual spotting scope moving while the retaining ring is ridgid.

Is that amount of movement (or any amount) normal or something that needs bringing to the attention of the nz agent?
Shouldn't move at all if everything is done up tight.
The retaining/locking nut is tight. Just seems to have too much slack in it when the focus is wound away from the black retaining band.
Thats not how it should be, suggest you contact Delta, they're on this forum somewhere.
Please have a look at the picture, there's a locking screw on the side of the spotter. Make sure that it is nice and snug. I'm happy to replace the spotter of that screw is tight and the wobble is still there.
and that's the sort of no nonsense, strait to the point after market service I wish every dealer had.
