    Stag Arms AR15

    Some wise council from the black rifle aficionados.
    What is the consensus on the quality of the Stag arms rifles? I am thinking of my first AR and the Stag arms models from Gunz NZ seem to fit the bill for a standard military-type AR, and the price seems reachable.
    Trying to figure out if I should pay more, or if I can live with something less that is made in China.

    Thoughts on getting an A-Cat AR that doesnt cost more than my car appreciated.

    (This is all Gimps fault.)

    With respect Tommy, this is one of the reasons why I have avoided AR15's so far. I have no idea what anyone is talking about.

    What kind of AR15 are you wanting? Do you want a rifle (20") barrel or a carbine (16")?

    NZAR15 has these https://nzar15.com/store/firearms/e-...e-dsr15f-e-cat

    Best deal atm on a mil spec type AR

    @gimp you bad

    It is possible to make an AR to do just about anything you want within caliber restrictions (bloody wide really).

    If you want a standard kick around model for the range and a few goats maybe get a 16" mid weight barrel model.

    CH to answer your question Stag Arms make solid mil-spec AR's incl. all the good features like chrome lined barrel, 7075 aluminium receivers, shell deflector, forward assist, ejection port cover that some cheaper brands skimp on.
    If I was gonna buy a mil-spec AR right now it would be one of these:

    The M&P15 looks appropriate for me, it seems to be a straightforward AR with a peep sight. The price is right.
    Would you consider them to be quality firearm?

    The Armalite DSR15 seems to be the same configuration rifle for the same price, but with a chrome barrel, which appeals to me.

    The Smith's are solid rifles. Main differance is they have a nitrided barrel vs chrome lined, which I would prefer unless I intended to use it for service rifle competition

    Bought a Stag Arms as my first AR back when you pretty much had to import an AR yourself to get one under $3.5k. I chose the stag since it was the lightest available on the market at the time. I still have it. Have put around 5-6,000 rounds through it, mainly hunting rabbits. Shoots around 3/4"- 1 1/2" out of a mil spec chrome barrel with good factory ammo or my hand loads. I have never had a failure of any sort. Only mods done is a adjustable gas block due to running a suppressor, Timney trigger, and a aftermarket fore end. Have no plans of selling it any time soon.
