    Stock builders

Any suggestions for someone to build me a new stock for my BSA Viscount featherweight? Would like something along the lines of the original with the Schnabel forend but maybe some nicer wood and nice chequering etc. Will still keep the original stock with the rifle as it shows signs of a lot of walking and kind of tells a story but be nice to be able to tart it up in a new dress also. I've tried to contact Laurie Bradley with no luck and Cobus who used to live only half an hour away which would have been handy seems to have moved to the north island.

I am aware that Dave Ward gunsmith in Nelson will stock a rifle from a blank. I think he is one of the few who do so. ph 03 543 3777

Von gruff lives near you. He makes stocks, mainly focusing on knives at the moment. I’m not 100%on his contact details he has been on this forum but is more active on africahunting.com

if you don't mind a gun smith from auckland then David Dwenn who is associated with Carvells/SAI penrose may be keen to do it. I don't have his number but SAI will. I normally just drop stuff off on a saturday.

There’s a guy in Katikati that will copy the existing stock with a copy router and finish it

Dave would be getting on a bit now but good call. I had a BSA Viscount 7x57 with one of his stocks, he modelled a few of his stocks off the early Sako shape.

Early Sako stocks are one of the best model stocks in my opinion!
