Stock pad for a shotgun
Hi Guys
I have recently purchased a 12ga, never owned a shottie before.
I pattern tested with some ammo over the weekend and found pattern was a little left of point of aim, about 6 inches at 25 meters.
I was thinking that if a stock pad was applied that should shift the point of aim to the right and achieve what I am after, any advise here please. Am I on the right track?
I have already checked and not possible to shim, it may be possible to have the stock adjusted, before going down this road I thought I might try the pad to see if it fixed the problem.
Cheers

Did the new shotgun come with a Shim kit for the stock? Most Semi's do these days and its a pretty easy job to install; two screws to remove the butt pad and one tube socket to remove the stock.

It is an older winchester 1500XTR, made in 78/79
I have had some advise that shims not available,
Cheers

Sorry, I should have read you original again. Maybe remove the stock and file a 5 degree wedge off the action end, re-oil and put back on. Or start with maybe 2 degrees and see how it goes?

@Dino Where you shooting both eyes open or one eye open? I was thinking that if you were shooting both eyes open and right handed, it might have been caused by your left eye being dominant. Try shooting right handed with only your right eye open.

Hi Stug
I have checked my eye dominance and I am right eye dominant and shoot right handed.
I try and shoot with both eyes open but in the heat of the moment I am not 100%
I am going to try a mouse pad chopped up and taped to stock to see if it helps move POI, will try and ping a few hares after hunting Saturday, should be fun, Max will love it anyway...lol
Cheers and hope you have got a couple of trips planned chasing furry creatures instead of slaving away over carbon fibre and resin:ORLY:
Cheers

I hope it works for you, your right Max will love it. I'm hoping to do the same with hares on the weekend with my daughters golden retriever. We managed to get two deer a couple of weeks back so she now knows what deer smells like. Just trying to line up a few days down the Ahuriri way over the holidays.
