Suppressor options for Marlin 45/70 Trapper (Ruger)

Has anyone tried suppressing this 16" beast?
I think DPT do a muzzle forward can (it only has 1" of thread ahead of cylinder tube so no over-barrels) but there must be others too.

Oceania Defence are great but spendy, trying to find out if they do a can that fits, anyone know?
It seems difficult to get in touch with them through their website.

I plan to shoot primarily subsonics and lower powered cast bullets for plinking, so a can that breaks down for cleaning is probably a good idea?

What's out there?
If anyone has one they aren't using I could go secondhand too.

Sweet looking rig.

I had a 336 that I had Gunworks make a up a custom job for, however I trimmed the mag tube to fit an over-barrel version. DPT is prob a good option for muzzle forward - be pretty light.

It also gives option to keep adding more baffles if desired hits.

I fit an overbarrel on mine by chopping the mag.

I have a dpt muzzle forward off my .308 I might let go,bugger all rounds through it as I have over barrel which I use ,think I only sighted rifle in with it then went to over barrel..pm me if you want some more details.

Oceania Defence (Ti or Inconel) are not suitable for cast projectiles. Jacketed only.

To get them these days I understand you need to go direct to Bert.

It's still pretty loud shooting hornady subs and cast 405gr at subsonic velocities.

Much fun though and very easy on the shoulder

Good point,automatically thought it was .30 cal..

Just to put things in perspective, when I worked on my 458 socom project, I was shooting through a big long suppressor.( Much bigger volume than most of the market currently offers ), I shot some hornady 458 sub x projectiles and some makers 500 gr ( very long as they are full copper).
The hornady were much louder than the makers. Somehow the makers seemed to maintain a better seal between baffles therefore keeping the gases burning longer inside the suppressor which resulted in quieter sound.
The powder used and the charges were very close from each others.

Also having played a bit with another rifle in 450 bushmaster with hornady sub x load I have a sound signature close to the one of the hornady projectiles in the socom.

There are not many ways around it , the bigger the hole ,the louder is the bang when shooting subs .

Thanks everyone for the input. Think I'll ask DPT for a quote. I agree that a suppressor is not going to be that effective with supersonic, but I primarily want it for subsonic and light loads.

They're not that effective for subsonic either because of the massive hole in the end!
