Hey team,
Looking for advice on a suppressor for my Tikka T3x elite. Thread is 1/2-20. I see Bronco's outdoors has a DPT 6.5mm OB suppressor that fits the bill. Does anyone use one of these? Is it worth $385? Does it make the rifle a bit more nose heavy?

Heaps of people use DPT suppressors. They're one of the most common brands here in NZ.
Yes, sticking a lump of metal on the end of the barrel will make it more front heavy.
$385 is pretty cheap for a suppressor nowadays.
Your in Christchurch...go visit Amanda and team out at gunworks and try Thier range of cans out for handling...and buy the one you feel is best. Won't cost you bugger all more and it will be brand new and you know it's history and where to go back to anytime in future.... They are good quiet cans.
DPT seem to be as good as any in the world. Ive got two and both rifles “shoot sub moa all day” ha ha.
There are old mk1 and new mk2 models so if its mk1 it should be cheaper. I paid about 385 for a new mk2 a couple of months ago.
Theres a plastic bushing at the back that needs to be ground out to the size of your barrel with a little clearance. Im sure gunworks would do it for you its a 5 minute job- they are the best workshop in ChCh. But most of their suppressors are heavy.
With the DPT you can take out one or two baffles to make them lighter & shorter which is good for Creedmore unless shooting over a dog.
Oh and people will say to shorten the barrel to compensate for nose heavy and length. If youre in the South Island dont do it.
As a south islander, shooting things out to 600m + with 18 inch barrels and small cartridges with thorough satisfaction, I reckon go hard on shortening it. You won't notice any real world difference to performance but it's a lot nicer to carryQuote:

@gimp how many rounds do you shoot a year ?
Enough to know that a 6.5 cm will still happily hit & kill anything you'd want to shoot, much farther than most people should be trying, whether it's doing 2550 or 2650fps with a 140-147grQuote:

Yes have a DPT on my creedmoor. I really like it. Yes it becomes a bit unwieldy plonked on the end of the 22” Tikka barrel. If you are hunting the tops its ok, if your in bush or river flats etc id lop it down to 20” or so prob. Makes the balance better for standing shots and whatnot. I still take plenty of standing/kneeling/leaning on trees shots with the full length barrel and suppressor. Its not too bad but I would like it to be 2” shorter. I would never not run a suppressor now, its just bloody rude not having one and your mates will hate you. Gunworks cans are good too. If you want a DPT go to hunting and fishing maybe they will order you one in and save shipping. Don’t let them convince you to run bigger cal baffles and that you don’t need to get a properly sized rear bush because they cant be arsed ordering anything in for you like they did to a friend of mine when he was starting out.
I would definitely put a DPT on it or a gun works overbarrel.
I would cut it to at least 20" if you reload you will still be over 2700fps which is plenty.

DPT are hard to beat.
I am still running my original mk1 thats had thousands of rounds through it. Does it work? Yes. Will I sell it? No.
