I am putting together a model 700 with a 10 inch barrel, because I can. Anyone got any recommendations for a muzzle-forward suppressor that will handle it? I had a Waitaki one before which i liked but I don't think it'd handle the amount of gas.

You could try talking to Scott at http://www.ssrnzhunting.com/contact.html he has built a few 10inch barreled 308s . His suppressors are pretty good.
Talk to Gary or Geoff at MAE, they do some special stuff

Above have beat me to the 'punch', but I'd think a muzzle forward magnum suppressor might do it.
Got a Waitaki SS magnum suppressor for the Omark target rifle, for F/TR.
Not much more noise than a 223 AR-15 (shot in the National Service), than I recall - but magnum suppressors have more capacity, so could be the way to go.
Says a very inexperienced suppressor user.
:yaeh am not durnk:
As stated, Scott Trail is the man to talk to about ultra short barrelled 308's.
On my 13" 7-08 I run a Schultz & Larsen Hardcore can ( only about 2" back, mostly forward of the muzzle ) with fast burning powder .

The scope is longer than the barrel!!

Fuk me that thing would be loud, From experience you still need at least 3-4 baffles to make a can usable with out hearing protection.
As for powder tommy, BMII or 2206h, stuff like this that burns quick so you don't have alot of residue left over.
I have had a mate offer me an MAE one that was .224 cal, and been reamed out by a gunsmith to .30cal, do you reckon A; the baffles are the same thickness/strength as the .30cal ones, and B; would the .30cal version even it stand up to the blast from a 10" barrel?
Cheers, Tom
Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me
Ring Gary or Geoff, 09 265 0910. They'll tell you what's what but I'd imagine no...do it once and do it right...
ODL suppressors are awesome.
