Let us say that you have set up your three coloured rings at 200m, 300m and 400m. If you are using a range finder most of them will give you an EHR (equivalent horizontal range) reading. For example the Leica 1600, 2000 and 2700 can be set to give you an EHR reading.
So you range your animal which is up hill and it first gives you a true line of sight range in the view finder of say 327m then a couple of seconds later it shows the EHR reading of 303m. You would then dial up to your 300m mark on your BT and hold dead on. This was a simplified answer, obviously if the rangers were say true at 378m and EHR at 356m then you would have to calculate how many clicks above 300m you need to go to get to 356m.
Yep, what Tech said.
I use a Leupold rangefinder and have it on the TBR (True Balistic Range) setting with the ballistic program set to my rifle subgroup. Its as easy as Range, Dial, Shoot. For distances under 300m on big game I usually don't bother referencing a dope card as I can pretty accurately dial in the required range, but having a dope card for distances beyond 300m becomes a little more essential.
Once you get used to them they give you great confidence in your rifle and your ability to put game down cleanly at distance. Enjoy!
Im using mil scope and dialling to 450 succesfully- capping my shoot range at 500m-ranging in m and checking incline on app-and inputting into Shooter- was thinking going to Swaro for the lighter scope- dont think ill both now- thank you anyway.
The Swarovski BT is no different to any dial up scope other than you can index the three point to anywhere you wish. No scope dial will compensate for angle and range. I am in the process of having a custom dial made with both range marking and MRAD to go in my Z6. Best of both worlds. Still have to allow for both wind and angle. I think @Norway had a chart for angle compensation in his shooting system that could help. It’s still basic trig though.
Just helped fit one. They don't have the teeth on the inside like the swaro one, you have to trim the lug off one of the rings and push it on. Seemed a little odd but its nicely made. Its relying on an interference fit ,you could put a little glue on it.Working well to date.
Turned up today. Easy to fit but as sneeze said you do have to trim down one of the Swarovski rings.

More spendy, but I got one of these in straight MOA. Works great.

Aye the guy on TradeMe is fantastic to deal with and the product works a treat. He made me a 2 turn moa dial. So get 29 moa come up. Put on Burris Zee rings with total 20 moa cant- that way you don’t need zero stop cos when zero’d at you can only go about 1/2 turn below zeroAttachment 113384
Hi Guys, I am new to this forum but wanted to introduce myself and answer any questions on the custom scope turrets for the Swarovski BT rifle scopes that are seen here and listed on Trademe. Cheers Dave
The turrets we make do not require glue or even necessarily the interference fit to hold them in place. There is an o-ring on the underside of the Swarovski turret cap that fits on top of the turret. Once you tighten the turret cap down, this o-ring grips onto the turret ring we build and prevents it from spinning on the trimmed down dot ring. By trimming the dot projection off the BT dot rings and fitting our turrets over them, it allows us to have a clean finish on the turret ring and provides more space for data on the turret, particularly with the 2 revolution turrets.
Thanks James, I will check it out.
so let me get this straight.
The trademe guy can make a custom ring but in moa or also MILIradians???? thats the part that grabs me.
Can someone link me to one of his auctions?
Oh i see its Dave above ^^ :)
cheers
Hey there, it depends on what scope model you have for whether they accept MOA or MRAD. The Z3s and Z5s are MOA. The Z6s are all MRAD as far as I am aware. You cant put an MOA on an MRAD scope and expect it to work and visa versa.

If you want to see how to install our turrets, look here. https://vimeo.com/341274021
How to remove the factory zero stop is here. https://vimeo.com/339803533
The scope the demo is done on is a Z6 but it is the exact same process for the Z3 & Z5. The MOA 2 rev turret that is shown in the how to remove the zero stop vid will not work on the Z6, was just to show the process.

I got and fitted one of those turret rings from trademe for a friends scope. They work great. The one thing I’d do different than what he suggested, which I don’t think he has worked out is that the ring will fit down over the bottom ring with the marks on it. You then place on of the 3 rings on top before fitting the cap. This does away with 3 lines of marks and if you have a z3 or z5 that has mil marks on a moa scope it makes it look better. No cutting bits off the old rings. Gives you a red dot for when on zero.
Haha, we have considered that and more. Have a prototype at the anodisers now that will do away with the dot ring altogether and give us more area for data to be engraved. It fits over the bottom of the coupling like you say but is full height to the underside of the cap. So no dot ring mods needed

Bit of free publicity for @DaveE his custom turret caps are a game changer one of the things that puts people off the swaros is there lack of elevation adjustment. These caps unlock the full potential of these scopes and he’s a good bastard to deal with [emoji106]

Yeap, got one of Dave's rings on my Z5 now. I had a proper Swarovski MOA ring on my last Z5 but this is much better with the option to remove zerostop and run two revolutions, especially on the rainbow trajectory 308 Haha
