Greg Duley recommends that you do not put tape on your suppresser, cause in a suppresser the bullet will hit the tape before any compressed air, because thats how a suppresser works . Potentially it could change your POI, probably ok for a close range shot.
A normal barrel with no can yeah always put tape on
If the suppressor is taped, then the air inside the barrel and the suppressor is sealed off. Any compression of that air by a bullet fired would result in the air expelling via the path of least resistance, the tape.
