    Thompson Centre Fire Compass Rifle

Well I hate to say it but I have sold my CF2 BSA 222. I found it just to uncomfortable as a left hand shooter. I can handle the bolt being on the wrong side but that roll over cheek comb
is very uncomfortable to use to the point of distraction. I could have altered the stock but couldn't bring myself to do it. I know it's not a collectors gun as stuff but it didn't feel right to alter it either.

Just wondering if anyone has a Thompson Centre Fire Compass , budget rifle but a lot of big features and getting some good reviews for what it is.
If anyone does have one I would be keen on hearing what you think of it.

    Cheers Viper

The bloke I hunted with in Victoria is a Thompson man. He had a couple of Compass rifles for paper punching but used a single shot Encore for deer hunting. He had a couple of others too but I can’t remember the models, they were really nice.

The Compass though had a really shitty synthetic stock. Really really horrible. Memorably bad. Much worse than a Hogue or Ruger American for example. But the barrelled action was fine, well made etc. The one rifle was brand new and felt like it was sitting in a plastic from an old Leyland car from the 70s, the other one he’d filled the forend with expoxy which helped.

I wouldn’t be able to deal with the stock.

You could also consider the Franchi Horizon rifle in that price range.
It got a really good write up (best in class) in the last issue of Rod & Rifle magazine. Sub moa, adjustable trigger, 3lug bolt, hammer forged barrel, factory threaded barrel, made in Italy etc.
Caliber options are fairly limited though.
