Interesting you should recommend the 17HMR out to 250 and beyond.
I have serious doubts at the HMR at 200, even though I have shot rabbits at that range.
Furthest have shot is 214, then I wasn't that happy with the result
You gotta be aware if you set it up or a 140yrd zero , you are gonna be 6" down at 200 and running out of steam

In my opinion the only thing you should be shooting at 250+ with the HMR, is a piece of A4
If you can hit it.

Pic taken from rest point. Where the sunny strip is is the pans hanging on a fence, 270m.

I dialled my scope to 270,b aimed and shot. My son and farther in law also shot the pan no trouble.


Hope that's enough info for you, I was surprised myself to be honest and doubted what I had read about ranges of shots taken by others but that's what I have done with mine
