someone who currently shoots recoilless .260 and has never shot anything bigger than a .308 SHOULD listen....at very least PLEASE try a few rounds through one of the bigger rifles you are looking at....I say this as Ive seen more than one fella go big then develop flinch soon afterwards..... easy to get and plurry hard to cure..... thus my are you sure you need the extra range/grunt/recoil........ I know more than one waterfowler who went out and bought 3" or even 3 1/2" chambered guns who now shoot 2 3/4" loads most of the time as they just dont need the extra recoil to get the results........
Im pleased Im not anyones wife,Im a bad enough husband as it is LOL.

Mate has a 300wsm tikka. It is a pussy cat to shoot and bloody accurate with everything in saying that both 300wsms I have shot were lovely to shoot and both had 19-20" barrels. The trick is a DPT magnum suppressor and you will be fine. 178eldm with a case full of 2209(good to reload in your 260 as well) or rl17 and you will be cooking with gas

300wsm just get a suppressor with a muzzle break in it to tame recoil 30 cal has a huge range of projectiles to choose from compared to other calibers

    My 2c...

If you want to load a 300WSM long in a Tikka then you'll end up single feeding or modifying magazines. The standard long/short action mags are too skinny for the WSM case and it binds up. Then the WSM specific mag is blocked at short action length around about 2.900".

I dropped mine in a chassis that takes AI mags which gives me loads of room. But if sticking with factory stock/mags, be aware they are a pain if you intend to reload and want to seat bullets out.

Well if you like to have a go with a few bigger cals, I'm back for six weeks, 1st April, and can put a .264 win, 300H&H, .358 win and perhaps a 9.3 in your hands, and you can get an idea of what your tolerance level is.
I am not a fan of the Tikkas, but I would take the 7mm rem mag, over the two WSM, for the following reasons, cheaper to feed, and more ammo choices in Taranaki, as well as in my view, the best long range performance,
I had a 270 WSM, in M70 win, (kept the M70 .264 win), and got rid of it, picky bastard, would shoot anything I wanted. so if you go this root, I got dies for you,
