Thread: Tikka bell and carlson stock

Anyone know a possible sweet spot for the
Action screw Torque spec on the above stock an tikka action? Maybe some has had a play in the past and
Found something that works the best? I have a torque driver now, but last time I just used the fitters feel, and guesstamation theory.

This is what Weatherby advise for there stocks, this is what I use for my mk v composite stock with bedding block.
They list different values for wood, carbon, composite and synthetic, I imagine Tikka would be similar.

I've got mine torqued yo 50in/lbs

I'd use tikkas factory specs and check for accuracy as your still screwing against their less than ideal bottom metal which fails if over torqued, unless you have swapped out the triggergaurd/btm metal?

I would look up what B&C say. I put a B&C stock on a mates T3 last year and it transformed it. They still need a skim bed on the Ali bedding block. So relieve the Ali block and wrap tape around the barrel to centralise the fore-end first.

Yea I've put a Hardy bottom metal in it.

Yea I'll look into bedding the action and the alloy block, but want to see any gains over a straight swap with the factory stock first

My Tikka manual says 44 inch pound for plastic trigger guard and 62 inch pounds for metal trigger guard.

Yes Sir "inch pounds"

I do recall though that my Sako a7 rough tech was 30 inch pounds with a plastic trigger guard...I'd say if you wanted to experiment, start at the Tikka recommended and work down looser. Just my 2 cents.

Cheers, I might start at 50 and work up in 2 inch pound incriments an see what happens.

Is your trigger guard/ bottom metal made of metal or plastic ? If its plastic 50 inch pounds may be too much
