You want to cut your tikka bolt in half?? Seems like a reasonable course of action

why would you want to?ive never understood the appeal. so your creeping through the bush. you think there is a deer close, so the rifle is in a horizontal position anyways so the bolt wont open. if your that close that you think you will need the half cock your hand is most likely around the grip with your thumb on the bolt to slip it down quickly so it wont open it you have to go vertical over a bush or something. just my thoughts. go for it if you want.

I generally use a forward but fully open bolt with my hand around the handle, quick easy and silent to close.

Half cocks are a hangover from back when safetys were never the most reliable. Rifle manufacturers wouldn't put safetys on their rifles if they didn't work.
Half cocks are also more dangerous as your more likely to knock the bolt closed if you slipped than knocking the safety off. Unless you punched a hole through the bolt so the safety worked too but that's pointless.
If you do want a half cock send the rifle to someone like Hardy Rifle Engineering. Doing it yourself is risky because if done wrong there is still sear engagement.
