Legend, i think my leupy arrives tomorrow.... but im pretty sure its a 1inch tube diameter. Will measure up and get back to you if 30mm

I'd say just leave it as is, use the original rings. They will never shift on you, mine haven't yet after 43 years. The little you would save in weight is negligible in the overall scheme of things. Thats a nice tidy rifle, looks just like mine was, but the open sights for mine are still in a plastic bag, oiled up, in with all my gun bits collected over the years. Let us know how it shoots - should like the 50 and 55gn projectiles, and possibly the 60/63's....maybe.

Interestingly we have an M55 .243 in stock from god knows when.
