The remmy's are around a pound heavier in comparible calibres but you get an extra 2" of barrel over the Tikka.

Both factories make rifles that shoot very well, tikka does it more consistently. You may get a rem that shoots, you may get a lemon.

So the Tikka's are lighter and probably more accurate, the rems have all the aftermarket bits and a couple extra inches of barrel, they are about the same cost.
Buy the tikka, there is a good reason they are so popular.

Try both and see which fits you better, thats more important that a small different in weight. Jakewires suggestion is good too, similar weight to a Tikka with IMO better features.

I prefer the higher end Remington's myself, the BDL and CDL are very good rifles, the sps and some of Remington cheep junk not so much, I think the Remington's are a bit heavier than tikka's.

Prefer the winchester model 70 over both.

If you get a Tikka Superlite/Finlight its under 6lbs.
For the price I dont think you will get a better deal considering weight is the biggest factor.

Tikka isn't so bad anymore for aftermarket bits. Multpile stock choices, rings and bases plentiful, bottom metal for alternative mag choices common too.
Not the problem it used to be.

Yeah absolutely, especially now the yanks have got on to them. Still fall far short on the aftermarket support for the rem 700 though

True that. I have found less need though as the stock is sufficient and you can get a b&c replacement fairly easy. Also the magazines though expensive work well.

Both are good rifles and won't really go wrong either way.
Unless you are really into rifles a safer bet for you would be the Tikka though.
Rems sometimes need a little tricking up to get the best out of them and a standard Tikka has a superb factory trigger over the current Rem 700.

From my experience when you start getting into the more expensive Rems and heavy barrel options they can start getting some wood over the heavier contour and more expensive Tikkas accuracy wise, but many people will just as easily have a story telling the opposite also...
