Tikka T3x vs Sako A7 RoughTech Pro

    Hey team!

Weighing up a couple of options for a new rifle that I'd use for the mountains/open country/south island.

Either Tikka T3x or Sako A7 RoughTech Pro in 7MM REM with Zeiss HD5 or Swaro optics.

The Sako seems to be significantly more heavy however I loved the substantial/quality feel to it. Any thoughts or other suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Cheers!

    Tikka ultralight (factory fluted)

Then use it and ignore all the scratches n dings you put in it

Serious value for money, very very accurate with 162 amaxs, great horsepower.

Which model is this exactly? I'm assuming you mean standard t3x Lite?

No, they actually use a Sako Finnlight barrel on this model only.

    Its very accurate.

What 7mmSAUM Said, I have a T3 7mmRM launching 162Amax's at 2925 fps, Loaded for mag length, no pressure signs, could easy go faster but it delivers 1300 foot pounds of energy when I run out of MOA in my turret (16.5 @ 709m) so meh...

    3 shots @ 100m (inch Squares)

Only down side if you are a velocity whore is the T3 "only" has a 24" 3/8ths barrel, Remingtons have 26" so you can milk them a bit more plus they have a longer mag so you can seat the pills out further. No issues with mine though they still fit the mag and I don't have a problem single loading in a LR setup if I wanted to go that way.

They have not done it to the T3X yet, but apparently will be on the way. They are two very different guns. The sako is great but it has the same feeding as the Tikka and is rather heavy. They will pretty much both shoot the same. For the extra $600 i would just stick to the tikka and invest to the swarovski or schmidt and bender scopes. I also think there ill be a bigger market for the T3x when it comes time to sell. If you want to spend more or jump up go standard A7 but tikka still the winner IMO.

If you want to spend that much on a gun get a kimber don't think you'll get a 7mm mag but a 280ai won't be to far behind it.
Otherwise I'd go for the Tikka and get the bell and Carson upgrade or look for a laminate stock they are much nicer.

Looks like theres a Tikka T3x Superlite available

Beretta Australia - Tikka T3x Super Lite Stainless

I also emailed Berretta NZ and they have them too.. Will this be equipped with the sako finnlite barrel?

Its funny how the Tikka 'superlite' or 'ultralite' or whatever never seem to be listed on the Tikka website - is it put together or fluted by the local distributors?

From my understanding Beretta aus/nz would put together these rifles using parts from Sako's etc. Not sure

The superlite utilise genuine Sako Finnlight barrels

So the local distributors import T3 actions and Finnlight barrels and screw them together here? Or throw away original T3 barrels and replace them with Finnlight barrels? Seems an odd way of doing things. Are you sure they don't just have T3s fluted by a local gunsmith?

I've found a few American ads for 'T3 superlites' too now so maybe its not just local, still don't know why Tikka wouldn't list it in the models on their own website if its a factory one though.
