    Tricks to stop Ring marks

Is there any way to stop risking marking a tube scope whilst mounted
I test the odd model and do not want to leave any marks
So its not for long term
Maybe only 1 night if Thermal
Usually to test hold of zero etc

I am thinking sellotape or the likes ???

    Need today :-)

I do have inserts from some other cheap china ones
But they are for making a 30mm ring into a 25mm

Sellotape does the trick, one thickness, no ring marks.

Other than using Burris Sig Zees or Optilocs lapping may minimise marking.

With the crappy CZ rings that came with my 527 I put 2 layers of gladwrap on the scope.
I have never removed the scope to check but what seemed like a good idea at the time I now doubt that gladwrap would provide much protection. I did however lap those rings and polished the edges of the tops and bottoms.

The vinyl signwriters use to cut lettering from. It comes in different grades including promo and removeable . About 1/3 of a mm thick . works very well and comes away pretty cleanly once it's time to take off.

I test a lot of rifles and am constantly swapping scopes around - I think I have about 20 scopes with 25 & 30MM tubes - Not a ring mark on any of them - Burris Signatures are your friend plus the inert kits can be used to advantage in many situations!

Electrical or masking tape works a treat.
